| Being the littlest tank engine in the Shed can be sad at times for four-wheeled Edward, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in spirit. While the other engines brag about being bigger and stronger, Edward strives to be kinder and cheerier. In Reverend W. Awdry’s first story, “Edward’s Day Out”, Edward impresses the Driver and passengers with his big smile, gentle heart, and hard work. Whether he is pulling coaches, freight cars, or helping the other engines, this little blue train does it with glee. Edward and Thomas are similar in coloring, both having blue tanks with red stripes, but they differ greatly in engine type and experience. The two trains are easily distinguished by their numbering. Though Edward is one of the original Three Railway Engines, he wears a number 2, while Thomas gets to be number 1, but Edward is too kind and wise to mind. Edward has been featured as a toy train on Thomas Wooden Railway since the first collection in 1995, and on the series Thomas and Friends since episode one. Make this 6 inch brightly colored wooden train the first member of your little one’s fleet of toy engines. Toy train of Edward has magnetic connectors for pulling and pushing other trains and cars. Thomas Wooden Railway toy trains are compatible with BRIO train sets.
