Gordon the Express Engine was the largest and strongest engine in the shed, until Murdoch came to the station. Brought by Sir Topham Hatt to help with pulling heavy loads along the Main Line, Murdoch is a massive steam engine. Murdoch is mighty strong but also mighty shy, often sneaking away to the countryside to hide. With Murdoch around, Thomas and the other engines know you don’t have to be mean just because you’re big.Chugging down the tracks at top speeds on 10 wheels, Murdoch is the biggest engine with the biggest heart. Orange in color, trimmed in gold, and with a fitted nameplate, this train is ready to pull his coal car and whatever else comes behind him.
Murdoch met up with Thomas and Friends in season 6. He joined the Thomas Wooden Railway in 2004. Even as a toy Murdoch is an intimidating size, but he is still a nice train. No toy train set is complete without the biggest and strongest engine on the Main Line. Magnetic connectors allow toy train to push and pull other toy trains and cars of any size.
